How to reduce your tummy?

Most people in the age group of 40-50 and above have a big tummy. Having a big tummy is perilous for the heart. Below I have mentioned few pointers which will help you lose tummy fat-

i) Consume plenty of fibre

ii) Avoid food containing fats and reduce your intake of carbohydrates

iii) Reduce sugar intake

I re-emphasize here that reducing sugar intake will go a long way in reducing weight and decreasing your tummy.

iv) Include a lot of protein in your diet

I have spoken about this earlier in this chapter.

v) Exercise

Best exercise for this is lifting weights and strength training. Picking up weights is too good and there is no age bar for this. Also, doing ‘planks’ helps a lot in reducing your tummy.

Foods that help reduce belly fat-

Avocados

Fruits containing vitamin C

Spinach and other green vegetables

Carrots

Story of a 78-year-old woman

There was a woman who never used to exercise and was obese. Her husband had abandoned her and she could not have safe delivery because of her obesity. She was staying alone and had a lot of difficulty in doing household chores and other activities. She was also suffering from rheumatoid arthritis, and the doctor advised her to do exercises every single day. She determined it was never too late to begin and started exercising at the ripe age of 78. She started going to the gym and doing callisthenics. She lost a lot of weight and her arthritis is more manageable now.
